The Special Technical Community on Social Networking (STCSN) is the entry point for researchers in social networking fostering communication with like-minded people carrying out research in the fields of online social networks, Web 2.0 platforms, and social media. STCSN encourages the dissemination of new and ongoing research in a number of relevant topics including social network services, applications, and tools, social computing and social search, social multimedia and social communications, social network analysis and visualization and cross-cutting issues such as business models and societal aspects of social networking (e.g., privacy and data protection).

STCSN regularly publishes E-Letters which comprise research articles about a certain topic. The next E-Letter of IEEE STCSN will publish articles in the realm of Science 2.0 research. If you are working on any aspect of Science 2.0, please consider submitting a short article to STCSN and using this opportunity to contribute to the community and to link with researchers and practitioners in this field. We also encourage submissions based on ongoing research or summarizing existing publications. Articles are citable, and easily and publicly accessible.

Contributions may report on the following topics:
•    open access to research literature and results
•    altmetrics
•    social networking platforms for researchers
•    alternative publication formats
•    distributed collaboration in research
•    using social media for research
•    open peer reviewing, alternative reviewing approaches

•    crowd-sourcing in science and citizen science
•    etc.
